PURPOSE

As authorized by section 113 of reference (a), this Directive:

Establishes the Joint Improvised Explosives Device Defeat Task Force (JIEDD TF); designates it as the focal point for all efforts in the Department of Defense to defeat Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs); and prescribes its authorities, responsibilities, and relationships.

Authorizes the Director, JIEDD TF to establish a Joint IED Defeat Integrated Process Team (JIEDD IPT).

Provides management principles and mandatory policies and guidance for the Joint IED Defeat mission in the Department of Defense.

Establishes a Senior Resource Steering Group (SRSG) to advise the Deputy Secretary of Defense.

Supercedes reference (b).

APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE

This Directive:

Applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components").

Does not alter or replace the Single Manager or Executive Agent responsibilities and authorities previously assigned.
