This specification outlines the technical specifications required for the cable shift system of manual transmissions. This specification applies to the assembly, specially to the shift lever knobs, to the mechanism, to the shift and select cables and to the shift lever boot (where applicable).
Stipulation of the functional and durability requirements placed on gearshift mechanisms is necessary in order to ensure the quality and service lifetime of the parts supplied. The requirements contained in this specification reflect those minimum values which are necessary in order to be able to carry out regular evaluation of conformity with design engineering targets.
