Scope:

This IGC covers water closet riser assemblies, which are comprised of a riser deck with flanges assemblies, mounting bolts, nuts and washers, extension supply tube and two wax rings. The water closet riser assembly is designed to serve as an extension base to raise a floor-mounted water closet's seat level to accommodate the elderly or the physically challenged person. Such devices are intended to provide a structurally-secure, water and gas tight extension of the mounting base for a floor-mounted water closet. This IGC covers definitions, materials, general requirements, performance requirements and marking requirements for such products.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this IGC is to establish a generally acceptable standard for water closet riser assemblies. This IGC is not intended to be a specification guide nor is it intended to restrict design. Its purpose is to serve as a guide for producers, distributors, architects, engineers, contractors, installers, inspectors and users; to promote understanding regarding materials, manufacture and installation; and to provide for identification of fittings complying with this IGC.

The provisions of this IGC are not intended to prevent the use of any alternate material, or method of construction, provided that any such alternate meets or exceeds the intent of this IGC.
