HOW TO SUBSCRIBE
This Guidance applies to the materials that may be used to surface platforms on London Underground stations, the preparation of platforms to receive them, the laying and fixing of them and the provisions to be made to accommodate other platform features. It applies to all areas where the initial laying of normal platform surfaces and their subsequent maintenance and renewal is required. Both types of platforms, solid and suspended, which are common throughout the system, are covered.
Design loading for platforms is defined in LU Cat 1 standard S1053 Civil Engineering – Building and Station Structures.
For guidance on platform tactile strips refer to G0131A. For guidance on platform accessibility humps refer to G347.
The purpose of this Guidance Document is to support the delivery of project or maintenance works on assets required to comply with LU Cat 1 standard S1131 Premises - Station Platforms. Clauses from S1131 are not repeated here so must be read in conjunction with this document.
