Organization: FORD
Publication Date: 1 August 1973
Status: inactive
Page Count: 4
scope:

This specification covers engineering requirements for carbon steel tapping screws. It does not apply to corrosion resistant (stainless) steel screws. In normal use, these screws form or cut mating threads in materials into which they are driven, without deforming their own threads or breaking during assembly or in service.

NOTE: Certain limitations on materials and manufacturing processes have been incorporated in this specification because experience has shown that present performance tests are not capable of assuring that all parts produced meet all functional, assembly and service requirements.
