This standard outlines procedures that help to:

a. identify employees potentially at risk immediately after a traumatic event and in the weeks following;

b. provide effective support to employees from the point of incident onwards;

c. assess and refer employees to appropriate clinical support services;

d. identify further resources, training and support available to help manage potentially traumatic incidents.

NOTE: Contractors will have arrangements in place which are equivalent to those specified in this standard.

Purpose

This standard is designed to:

a. provide an effective and consistent process for how Network Rail supports employees following traumatic incidents in the workplace;

b. manage the risk of trauma related mental ill health in the workplace; and

c. reduce the effect of traumatic incidents at work on the mental wellbeing of employees.
