This standard specifies the shapes and dimensions of elastomer waterstops, with and without steel straps, used for sealing joints in concrete.
DIN 7865-1 does not give guidance on the practical application of the waterstops in construction work.
DIN 18197, developed by DIN-Normenausschuss Bauwesen (NABau) (DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering), lays down specifications for the function and construction principles of waterstops, and the corresponding selection criteria.
DIN 7865-1 does not apply to elastomer waterstops with fabric reinforcement or waterstops made of other materials (e.g. thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), blends with thermoplastics, etc.). It also does not apply to gaskets or strip for sealing joints in plain or reinforced concrete pipes.
DIN 7865-2 applies to the material properties of elastomer waterstops.
