scope:

This module specifies the process by which erroneous asset-related data and information is corrected and maintained. It does not include data related to non-operational assets such as IT and office facilities assets.

This module is applicable to:

a) the entire asset management capability as defined within Network Rail's asset management strategy, both internal and external to Network Rail throughout the lifecycle of asset data;

b) the correction of erroneous asset-related data from those individuals and organisations external to the asset management system, for example, asset data used in financial calculations;

c) to projects maintaining asset-related data.

This module applies when:

a) data quality issues / errors reports are identified; and,

b) resolving previously identified data errors or issues.

Purpose

This module sets out the Data Error Correction process to:

a) correct erroneous data in all applications where it is stored;

b) inform stakeholders of the issue identified to assess the impact when incorrect data has been used;

c) initiate corrections;

d) obtain authorisation to implement changes to consistently apply changes across systems and to prevent unauthorised changes by those without sufficient permission;

e) maintain an audit history of all changes; and

f) record where errors have been identified and corrected.

It supports Network Rail in realising the principles in NR/L1/ADG/001 in managing the risks related to asset data and information by setting out the process to correct data as close to the source of the error as possible.

The process in this module mitigates these asset-data related hazards:

a) structural inability to process data or refine data;

b) recurring data errors issues occur.

The process described in this module is the quality management system for assetrelated data, which interfaces with the following processes and related management systems (non-exclusive):

a) external asset data users and consumers
