Foreword
The purpose of this document is to provide a state-of-the-art report on stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of carbon and low-alloy steels in anhydrous ammonia service. The intent is to provide the corrosion engineer with the information needed to make informed decisions in individual applications.
This technical committee report was originally prepared in 1992 by Task Group T-5A-33, a subcommittee of Unit Committee T-5A on Corrosion in Chemical Processes. It was reaffirmed in 2004 by Specific Technology Group (STG) 36 on Process Industry-Chemicals. The report is published by NACE under the auspices of STG 36.
