Organization: NPFC
Publication Date: 1 February 2017
Status: active
scope:

This standard covers criteria for the design, development, construction, and analysis of arresting hook systems installed on naval aircraft, manned or unmanned, for which their detail specifications or pertinent contractual documents require an arresting hook be used for shipboard arrestments and emergency land based arrestments. Traditional Navy arresting hooks located outside the aircraft's outer mold lines are described, as well as those located inside arresting hook bays and enclosed by doors. Arrestment performance of hook systems installed on the air vehicle, subjected to aircraft dynamics, is described. Control devices that extend, retract, sequence, position, sense, lock, dampen, service, expose and enclose arresting hooks are also described.
