This Standard specifies the product requirements for particleboard flooring, as classified in Clause 5.

CLASSIFICATION

Two classes of flooring are specified as follows:

(a) Class 1 Particleboard flooring:

(i) For use in Australia where weather exposure may occur during construction.

(ii) Requirements for placement and fixing in AS 1860.2 shall apply.

(iii) Is not suitable for conditions of permanent dampness, where particleboard moisture content is permanently in excess of 16%.

NOTE: Depending on methods of use, this may occur in environments where relative humidity and temperature exceed 80% and 30°C for consecutive months.

(b) Class 2 Particleboard flooring For use in regions where weather exposure during construction is not necessary.

NOTE: Class 2 flooring may not be suitable for use in Australia where there is weather exposure during construction.
