Scope and Applicability.
Reference (a) assigns the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair (SUPSHIP) Gulf Coast, Pascagoula, Mississippi, as the naval supervisory authority for USS Fitzgerald FY18 collision repairs and concurrent EDSRA. This action is to transfer responsibility for the safety, security and maintenance, including the tag-out, of the USS Fitzgerald, from Commanding Officer (CO), USS Fitzgerald, and Commander, Naval Surface Forces (COMNAVSURFOR), to Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command (COMNAVSEASYSCOM), effective upon offload of USS Fitzgerald, from heavy lift vessel in Pascagoula, Mississippi, until achievement of crew move aboard (CMA) milestone during the FY18 EDSRA and the in-service requirements as defined in reference (b).
Purpose.
To define the scope of responsibilities to support the United States Ship (USS) Fitzgerald (DDG 62) fiscal year 2018 (FY18) collision repairs and concurrent extended docking selected restricted availability (EDSRA).
