The scope of this document applies to the following structure types:
a) Canopies;
b) Train and depot sheds;
c) Undercrofts;
d) Other Operational Property structures where examination of condition alone is insufficient to inform management decisions.
It provides requirements and guidance for:
a) Prioritising assessments;
b) Determining the scope of assessments (including situations where qualitative assessment applies);
c) Inspections for assessment;
d) Quantitative assessments;
e) Interventions following assessment.
It should be used by everyone managing the load capacity of existing operational property structures and undertaking structural assessment.
Do not use this document for the design of operational property structures or strengthening designs unless directed by structures controls for 'design, construct and commission' or specifically instructed by the Asset Engineer (AE).

Where it is not clear whether this document applies to the assessment of a particular structure, seek instruction from the AE.
Purpose
This document provides requirements and advice for the assessment of Operational Property structures.
It complements NR/L2/CIV/035.
It forms part of the control barrier 'Carry out Structural Assessment and implement actions' to mitigate the risk of functional failure of the structure.
