Introduction

This track work information sheet explains how to carry out a Complete Treatment of S&C on timber bearers. It covers:

• A full scope to identify the work including checking the line, top and gauge of switches

• Identification of associated works

• Tightening and replacing bolts

• Datum rail alignment

• Stock rail squaring

• Re-gauging

• Replacement of all fastenings, screws and ferrules

• Correction of top through the switch

This task involves P-Way and S&T forming a multi-discipline team, especially when reconnecting point operating equipment.

If the toes are found to be out of alignment during the scope, this shall be rectified before this task can carried out.
