Introduction

This Track Work Instruction covers managing and monitoring a possible failure of a cutting slope.

See also separate instructions:

  • TWI 2G019 How to apply a speed restriction in an emergency
  • TWI 3G044 How to manage a watchman
  • TWI 3G083 How to decide on whether to use a watchman
  • TWI 3G111 How to arrange an emergency temporary speed restriction
  • TWI 3L003 How to manage a developing embankment slip.

Look at the top and line of the track at the cutting toe - if there is any sign of the track heaving up then report back immediately. This is a sign of a slip circle developing which can lead to a serious failure of not only the cutting face but also the track.
