Introduction
This Track Work Instruction covers the planning of Dynamic Track Stabiliser (DTS) machines. The objective of using a DTS machine is to simulate the 'beddingin' effect of traffic on newly laid or disturbed track. This improves the quality of the finished job by providing a consolidated track bed. This may allow the newly relayed track to be opened at a higher speed and may also allow earlier removal of speed restrictions.
DTS machines consolidate the ballast by use of vibration at a frequency of 40Hz.
