Purpose
The tree risk model process uses the output from the Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system's LiDAR feature extraction data to find positive identification of trees that pose a risk to the safe operation of the railway if they were to fail.
A national programme was conducted in 2014, the output from LiDAR risk modelling was made available to all routes.
This document provides an overview how the risk model is derived and gives guidance on how to prepare an action plan once tree risk model data has been provided.
