This standard specifies the requirements for construction, performance and marking for abandonment suits. It does not replace or supersede life saving equipment covered by the IMO/SOLAS 1974/1983 convention for safety of life at sea, or when used aboard aircraft, equipment covered by the Federal Aviation Authority, the Civil Aviation Authority and other aviation regulatory bodies.
