This document defines the safety requirements applicable to the precommissioning inspection, maintenance and operational inspection and checks of cableway installations designed to carry persons. This document is applicable to the various types of cableway installation and takes into account their environment. It includes requirements relating to accident prevention and to the protection of workers notwithstanding the application of national directives of a building or regulatory nature or those that serve to protect special groups of persons. It does not apply to cableway installations intended for the transport of goods nor to lifts. This document does not deal with acceptance testing prior to opening to the public. The provisions of Clause 5 apply to the measures to be taken prior to the initial commissioning of the installation, and those of Clauses 6 and 7 concern the measures to be taken during operation.
