This standard applies to all works undertaken by LU, their contractors and third parties on stations and associated accommodation.
Where projects are unable to fully meet, applicable standards and/or legislation the issues shall be described in the Fire Strategy. The solutions shall be reviewed and agreed at a Qualitative Design Review (QDR) in accordance with BS7974.
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to define how London Underground (LU) applies fire safety engineering principles, develops fire strategies and ensures compliance with fire safety legislation - specifically:
a) LU standard S1080, 'The Application of Fire Safety Engineering Principles to TfL Premises'.
b) The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
c) The Fire Precautions (Sub-surface Railway Stations) (England) Regulations 2009
This document consolidates best practice to promote compliant design and construction.
