Patrol ships are ships of a very wide range of design, size and intended operation. The scope of this chapter is to provide guidance to what parts of the DNV GL rule books shall be applied based on size, speed and operational profile.

The requirements in the following sections are supplementary to those referenced in the application subsection of each qualifier (L), (M), or (S) for patrol ships.

Objective

The main objective of the ship type notation Patrol is to provide safety for the crew and other persons on board, the ship and the environment under the intended operational profile.
