This Standard represents the contents of the HomePlug 1.0 specification as written in 2001. This document has undergone a technical review. It does not include any additional improvements that represent the state of the art at the time of publication of this standard. Where appropriate this standard indicates areas of potential enhancements for further study.

It specifies the interoperability and compatibility requirements for a medium-speed Power Line Network modem. The requirements are written from the perspective of a compliant transmitter, although some minimum receiver performance requirements are documented. This Standard does not specify implementation specifics not required for interoperability. Procedures for testing compliance to these requirements are outside the scope of this Standard.
