Form

This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of bars up through 3.000 inches (76.20 mm) in nominal diameter or least distance between parallel sides, inclusive, forgings of thickness up through 3.000 inches (76.20 mm), inclusive, with bars and forgings having a maximum cross-sectional area of 16 in2 (103.23 cm2), and stock for forging of any size.

Application

These products have been used typically for parts requiring good weldability and ductility, combined with good notchtoughness down to -320 °F (-196 °C), but usage is not limited to such applications.

Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject to stresscorrosion cracking; ARP982 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
