This standard applies to those who specify, design or supervise the installation of modular S&C layouts

Purpose

This standard is intended to control the risk of the following failure modes occurring in modular S&C layouts following installation:

a) Wide gauge

b) Damaged and ineffective thread on dowels at the actual bearer joint

c) Bearer cracking

d) Screws breaking (in shear at end of thread or head breaking off)

e) Loose screws

f) Twist faults around joints

These faults can all be attributed to inconsistent methods of installation. The purpose of this document is to provide clear instruction on the installation of modular S&C layouts.
