Application

This document describes the method for bend testing aluminum sheet and extrusions with a three point bend fixture mounted in a tensile frame and the analysis of test results. A rectangular bend test specimen of sheet is bent between two rollers by a punch with small tip radius. Punch load and displacement are recorded during the test which concludes when load falls below a predetermined percent of peak load. Adjusted crosshead displacement is used as a measure of bendability with larger displacements indicating better bendability.
