This Standard specifies the performance requirements for the limited flame spread properties of materials comprising protective clothing, material assemblies, and protective clothing as well as design requirements, physical requirements, marking, information supplied by the manufacturer, and additional requirements.

This Standard is not applicable when protection against heat hazards is necessary, in addition to protection against flame. In that case, other Standards such as JIS T 8129 shall be used instead

NOTE The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 14116: 2015 Protective clothing-Protection against flame-Limited flame spread materials, material assemblies and clothing (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1.
