This competence standard applies in all circumstances where any person is required to contribute to minimisation risks when working on or near live DC Conductor Rail Equipment or Electrical Power Supply Equipment on Network Rail controlled infrastructure.

The level and extent of responsibility includes their own safety and that of others who might be affected by their work. The Person in Scope is expected to refer to others for authorisation when required, responsible for the implementation of the instructions and working within set procedures and specifications. The Person in Scope is responsible for the quality of their completed work.

This competence standard is used to assess the competence of people undertaking electrical safety activities associated with the DC Conductor Rail System Infrastructure.

Purpose

The purpose of this competence standard is to define the third and final part of competence requirements for persons undertaking Level B (Authorised Person) DC Conductor Rail duties when working on or having access to live equipment.
