Purpose.

This instruction outlines and explains the capabilities Air Force Bands employ to accomplish a wide range of objectives around the world. It provides commanders and Public Affairs (PA) professionals the guidance to use the unique ability of music to bridge language and cultural differences to build relationships with a wide variety of audiences and communicate a broader, deeper sense of meaning behind their ideas and messages. Implementing Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 35-1, Public Affairs Management, this document describes Air Force Bands, explains how they are functionally organized, and outlines their capabilities and activities.
