Purpose:
This manual is composed of several volumes, each containing its own purpose. In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive (DoDD) 5134.01 and DoDD 5134.12 and the policy in DoD Instruction (DoDI) 4160.28:
• This manual implements policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for assessing demilitarization (DEMIL) requirements and performing physical DEMIL of DoD personal property.
