The Air Force Corrections System provides quality confinement and rehabilitation services. The system primarily houses pretrial detainees pending a court-martial and post-trial inmates serving a court-martial sentence of confinement. (Hereafter, pretrial detainees and post-trial inmates are collectively referred to as confinees unless an exact confinement status indication is necessary). The Air Force Corrections System ensures a secure, humane, and productive environment for confinees and staff. All confinees receive fair and humane treatment in accordance with the law, instructions, and directives and consistent with custody requirements. The Air Force Corrections System provides opportunities for confinee education, training and rehabilitation. Those not retained for further military service have the opportunity to return to society as a responsible and productive citizen. The Air Force Corrections System is committed to ensuring that confinees, crime victims, and witnesses are afforded all the rights and privileges to which they are entitled under law. Further, the Air Force Corrections System is committed to ensuring the prevention, detection, response and elimination of sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and all other types of violence against confinees. The Air Force Corrections System creates a system of management to ensure all applicable requirements are met.
