Diese Norm enthält die Mindestanforderungen für die Anfangsprüfung und Messung sowie die Prüfschärfegrade, die ein 1 490/1 550-nm-downstream- und 1 310-nm-upstream-Lichtwellenleiter Wellenlängenmultiplex-Bauteil (en: WWDM) für passive Lichtwellenleiternetze (en: PON) mit Anschlussfasern, damit es als die IEC-Norm, Kategorie O (unkontrollierte Umgebung), wie in IEC 61753-1, Anhang A festgelegt, erfüllend eingestuft werden kann.

Anhang B dieser Norm enthält Angaben über die Funktionsweise des 1 490/1 550-nm-downstream und 1 310-nm-upstream-WWDM.
