This Defence Standard specifies the requirements, inspection and testing of carbon, carbon-manganese and chromium molybdenum steel tubes for pressure purposes. The normal application for such tubes is in steam and hydraulic systems.

The requirements specified in this Defence Standard cover tubes intended for use in First Level and non-First Level systems. Where tubes are required for use in First Level systems, the additional requirements of SSP25 (summarized in Annex A of this Defence Standard) must also be complied with.
