Audio, video and similar electronic apparatus — Safety requirements

This Standard applies to power-operated radio transmitting equipment designed to be used on standard supply circuits in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, including all types of radio transmitting equipment, irrespective of the type of modulation employed. This Standard applies to installations of general non-commercial and commercial purposes, including installations under the jurisdiction of skilled operators.
This Standard applies to the safety of such equipment designed to be installed and used in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
Note 2A: Manufacturers designing products for use in Canada may find a helpful summary of the equipment-related requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, in CSA SPE-2000.
For apparatus to be used in health care facilities, additional requirements are given in Annex NA.
For equipment intended to be mounted on the underside of kitchen cabinets, additional requirements are given in Annex NB.
For power-operated radio transmitters, and similar apparatus for use with specific apparatus covered by this Standard, additional requirements are given in Annex NC.
