Organization: NR
Publication Date: 6 March 2021
Status: active
Page Count: 11
scope:

This document defines the requirements for a wheel detection point position record.

The requirements in this module apply to all those engaged in signalling design, installation, test and maintenance activities associated with work being undertaken on Network Rail's infrastructure. This module applies to all technologies of on-track equipment used for detecting wheels.

The factors to be taken into consideration when designing the position of the detection point are contained in other documents and the manufacturers requirements.

Purpose

This module forms part of the Signalling Design Handbook (NR/L2/SIG/11201) and is to be read in conjunction with the other modules of the handbook and reference documentation.

The wheel detection point position record holds information that is required by the installer to correctly position the wheel detectors on the track. It is helpful for the maintainer when replacing wheel detectors following failure or rail grinding and tamping.
