Organization: | NR |
Publication Date: | 6 March 2021 |
Status: | active |
Page Count: | 60 |
scope:
This module is applicable to all stakeholders involved in the procurement of three phase HV switchgear. This module applies to all new and renewed 12 kV, 24 kV and 36 kV rated A.C. switchgear. This module also considers the use of 12 kV rated A.C. switchgear for 6.6 kV non-traction system voltages.
For Southern region locations, 36 kV rated switchgear will be fitted when replacing existing 11 kV and 22 kV traction switchgear.
The document is to be read in conjunction with the relevant procurement specification produced by the client/client's representative.
Purpose
The purpose of this module is to define the requirements for Network Rail's 12 kV, 24 kV and 36 kV rated A.C. switchgear used for HV distribution in either traction or non-traction applications.
This module aims to mitigate the risks of:
• Unclear requirements leading to difficulties in procuring switchgear components;
• Increased costs from different routes and projects working to different sets of requirements;
• Non-compliance of procured components to EN 62271.
NOTE 1: This switchgear is used to control, protect, and distribute three-phase A.C. electrical supplies at a nominal system voltage of 6.6 kV, 11 kV, 22 kV and 33 kV respectively.
NOTE 2: This switchgear can also be installed on the primary side of 25 kV A.C. static frequency converter substation.
