Organization: NR
Publication Date: 5 March 2021
Status: active
Page Count: 102
scope:

To assess the potential for glare from the Framing Bridge on the safety and functionality of the adjacent railway tracks, the following activities have been undertaken in a two stage process:

Stage 1: Data Gathering

1 Detailed geometry of the proposed footbridges

2 Station platforms and railway tracks

Stage 2: Reflection Analysis

1 Use the 3D model to create a Radiance sunlight simulation model.

2 Complete an annual sunpath study to predict the sunlight reflection distribution from different viewpoints on the adjacent railway tracks at different site orientations.

3 Identify instances/times of the year where reflections from glazed elements have the potential to cause reflected glare to train drivers.

4 Identify particular reflected sunlight patches, that are considered to be highimpact, for further analysis.
