Purpose:
This manual is composed of several volumes, each containing its own purpose. In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive 5124.02 and DoD Instruction (DoDI) 1348.33:
• This manual implements policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for managing the DoD Military Decorations and Awards Program.
• This volume:
o Provides information regarding the Medal of Honor (MOH) and award criteria.
o Provides information on courtesies and privileges afforded MOH recipients.
o Prescribes procedures for preparing and submitting MOH recommendations.
o Prescribes procedures for requesting replacement and duplicate MOHs.
o Prescribes procedures for presentation of the MOH flag.
