scope:

This instruction applies to all naval medical and dental facilities, ashore and afloat, with medical and dental department personnel. It applies to active duty Navy medical and dental officers and government civilian physicians and dentists who desire or require use of magnification devices (loupes) for the practice of medicine and dentistry within naval medical and dental facilities. Magnification loupes for active duty and government civilian dental hygienists, expanded function dental technicians, or other medical health care providers may be purchased at the discretion of individual commands. Contracting companies will address the magnification loupe needs of contract physicians, dentists, and dental hygienists.

Purpose.

To establish guidance for the purchase, property control, and transfer of custom magnification loupes for Navy medical and dental clinical personnel, per references (a) and (b), and enclosures (1) and (2).
