NOTE The method for determining the compressive (fracture) load to failure utilizes quasi-static loading of the modular femoral heads. ASTM F2345 can be used for dynamic compressive loading of ceramic modular femoral heads and utilizes the same test set-up, assembly and loading procedure described in this method.
