scope:

This Standard applies to the general and dimensional interchangeability requirements for plugs, connectors, receptacles, adaptors, appliance inlets, current taps, and similar devices with arcuate contacts of standardized configurations (hereinafter referred to as accessories), with a rated operating voltage not exceeding 600 V AC at a frequency of 50 Hz and 60 Hz and with rated currents of 20 A and 30 A, and intended for use in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.

This Standard does not apply to the following products:

a) straight-blade attachment plugs, receptacles, cord connectors, and inlets, covered by CSA C22.2 No. 42;

b) cord sets and power supply cords covered by CSA C22.2 No. 21; c) cord reels and multi-outlet assemblies covered by CSA C22.2 No. 308;

d) devices having male or female screw shells, covered by CSA C22.2 No. 43;

e) receptacles, attachment plugs, connectors, and adaptors of the special use types covered by CSA C22.2 No. 182.1, CSA C22.2 No. 182.2, CSA C22.2 No. 182.3, and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 182.4;

f) devices intended for hazardous locations covered by CSA C22.2 No. 25 and CSA C22.2 No. 30; and

g) devices incorporating ground-fault circuit interruption circuitry, covered by CSA C22.2 No. 144.1.
