This technical specification presents a measuring device that simulates the human hand when touching paper tissue products. The measured results correlate to haptic parameters that estimate the hand feel/haptics/touch, or in daily language "softness", of tissue products. The method based on the use of a Tissue Softness Analyzer (TSA), available from emtec Electronic GmbH, Leipzig, Germany.

It describes the theoretical background of haptics in connection with the device and the device itself. In the Appendix is described the testing method and the conditions that are prerequisite for measuring three basic parameters that estimate the human feel or haptics of tissue products like base paper or tissue parent/mother reel as well as final goods or consumer products including facial tissues, handkerchiefs, toilet paper, kitchen towel, and napkins
