DS/ISO/IEC 10646-1 specifies the Universal Multiple-Octet Coded Character Set (UCS). It is applicable to the representation, transmission, processing interchange, storage, input and presentation of the written form of the languages of the world as well as additional symbols. This Part specifies: - the Secondary Multilingual Plane for scripts and symbols (SMP) of the UCS and defines a set of graphic characters used in scripts not covered by the Supplementary Plane for CJK Ideographs (SIP) and the BMP; - the Supplementary Plane for CJK Ideographs (SIP) of the UCS and defines a set of graphic characters that are used in East Asia.
