This standard provides principles and practices that address the definition, attainment, verification and validation of the quality of:

Initial conceptual, systems and detail design of the energy source, such as an energy facility, including its hardware items, equipment and specialty tools and any modifications thereof;

Fabrication and assembly of the hardware items to be installed in the energy source and of equipment and specialty tools to be used at the energy source;

Installation of hardware items in the energy source;

Construction of the energy source, including backfill, concrete, and piles and caissons, and erection of the structure;

Operations of the energy source;

Maintenance of the energy source hardware items, equipment and specialty tools;

Safety and health of workers at the energy source and of the public;

Security of the energy source;

Environmental protection;

Emergency preparedness and response.
