This section shall be divided into the following paragraphs:

Identification. This paragraph shall contain a full identification of the system, software, and hardware to which the OSMP applies, including, as applicable, identification number(s), title(s), abbreviation(s), version number(s), and release number(s).

System overview. This paragraph shall briefly state the purpose of the system to which the plan applies and the overall system design. It shall describe the general nature of the system software and hardware; summarize the history of system development, operation, and maintenance; identify the project sponsor, acquirer, user, developer, and support agencies; identify current and planned operating sites; and list other relevant documents.

Plan overview. This paragraph shall summarize the purpose and contents of the plan and shall describe any security or privacy considerations associated with its use. Include the applicable Distribution Statement (i.e., A, B, C, D, E, etc.) in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 5230.24, Distribution Statements on Technical Documents, Enclosure 4. Include the applicable Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) markings, as necessary, in accordance with DoDI 5200.48, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and the DoD CUI Registry. Include the applicable classification marking, as necessary, in accordance with Department of Defense Manual (DoDM) 5200.01, Volume 2, DoD Information Security Program: Marking of Information.
