Signalling Installation: Installing and Aligning the Schweizer Miniature Stop Light Unit

active, Most Current
Organization: NR
Publication Date: 4 June 2022
Status: active
Page Count: 11
scope:

The module covers the setting up of the Schweizer MSL light unit only and is applicable where installed on both public and private roads.

Purpose

This module gives guidance on how to set up the Schweizer MSL light unit so that it is visible to the crossing user under all conditions but minimises the impact of light pollution on premises near the crossing.

It describes how diffusers, louvres and side screens can be used to control the light output.

NOTE: NR/L2/SIG/11201/ModX40 states that a signal sighting engineer be involved in the positioning of the light unit if it is to be within 60 degrees of the line of the railway to confirm it cannot be confused with a railway signal.
