Battery-operated furniture with electrically motorised parts and other DC supplied furniture with electrically motorized parts are within the scope of this standard.
Dual supply furniture with electrically motorised parts, either mains-supplied or battery-operated, are regarded as battery-operated furniture with electrically motorised parts when operated in the battery mode.
NOTE Z101 Household environment includes the dwelling and its associated buildings.
- electrically operated/adjusted privacy screens (panel systems);
- electrically operated/adjustable multifunctional furniture combining different furniture and/or transforming one type of furniture into another type of furniture;
- electrically operated furniture for non-medical use in health care environment;
- cupboards for built-in appliances like a dishwasher or a refrigerator.
- children playing with the furniture;
- operation of the furniture by very young children and young children.
It is recognized that very vulnerable people and young children may have needs beyond the level addressed in this standard.
- the requirements of this standard can be used as a guide for assessing a partly completed machinery.
- moving railing chairs or stair lifts;
- chairs on wall mounted rails with height adjustable wash basin;
- furniture intended exclusively for industrial purposes;
- furniture intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour, water or gas).
This European standard does not deal with any specific requirements on noise emitted from these appliances the generated noise is not considered to be a relevant hazard. Thus, the emission sound pressure level LpA is considered to be LpA ≤ 70 dB(A).
For the purpose of this standard, the term "appliance" from here and onward is to be read as "furniture with electrically motorised parts".
