scope:
This standard applies to all types of operational technology radio systems or radio system delivering an operational function deployed on Transport for London (TfL) owned infrastructure, with the following exception(s):
a) Wireless equipment carried or used by customers in the course of their journey
b) Other wireless equipment installed in non-operational locations
c) Other wireless equipment carried or used by staff in non-operational locations d) Radio Public Address (RPA) systems on stations. Refer to standard S1142 Operational Information Systems.
This standard applies to all TfL projects and business units including their suppliers involved in the design, delivery, operation, and maintenance of wireless communication systems.
Note: This version of the standard has received a significant update, this is to bring the standard up to date and to meet the current business needs of TfL.
Where a commercial or public wireless communication system is provided or utilised to deliver an operational function, then the system requirements and interfaces shall be agreed with the Principal Engineering Leader (Technical Head - Telecoms).
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to define the minimum technical and safety requirements for all operational Wireless Communication Systems defined in the scope of this standard which is provided for the purpose of transmitting operational voice, video, and data services.
