Creating a Site of Work Segregated from the Railway: Within a Possession

active, Most Current
Organization: NR
Publication Date: 3 June 2023
Status: active
Page Count: 12
scope:

This module applies to a site of work designated as being segregated from the railway within a possession and it covers two scenarios:

Scenario 1: construction of a new railway line (or other engineering works that will connect with the operational railway)

Scenario 2: construction works taking place within a possession and or siding possession where temporary segregation from open lines can be established.

Purpose

This module provides risk-based controls for works being undertaken within a possession, where temporary segregation from open lines can be established so that:

a) risk to the operational railway is eliminated or reduced to so far as is reasonably practicable;

b) once the site of work designated as segregated from the railway is in place, the requirements of NR/L2/OHS/019 do not apply and non-PTS operatives can be used.

NOTE: All other relevant Network Rail standards apply.
