LUL - S1915
Specification for the Requirements for Substations and Other Similar Buildings for Use on the System (formerly Powerlink Technical Specification SP82102 Rev 3)
Organization: | LUL |
Publication Date: | 1 May 2023 |
Status: | active |
Page Count: | 35 |
scope:
This standard applies to LU their suppliers and/or contractors and third parties
This Standard is applicable to the design and construction of new, modified or extended traction substations, distribution substations, switch houses, transformer rooms, and other similar buildings. Any works defined as a 'material alteration' within the scope of the Building Regulations.
Note 1: This Standard may be used for buildings of a non-standard construction such as a GRP (composite) or a containerised building. However any such alternative may not comply with the life requirements stated in S1053, and consideration should be given to how it can be replaced whilst minimising the disruption to the operation of the railway. One option for a containerised substation would be to have sufficient space to position a replacement near the old containerised substation and then transfer circuits from the old to the new. Concessions detailing the mitigations for every non-compliance with this standard should be submitted.
Note 2: In this Standard unless otherwise specified the word substation is used generically to cover all different types of substations or rooms containing LU Power assets.
Purpose
This standard sets out the minimum technical requirements for the design and construction of buildings for the accommodation for power assets required for the safe operation of London Underground (LU) electrical systems at all voltages used for power transmission, distribution, traction power supply and other energy uses.
