This standard applies to all Network Rail employees, or contractors, and premises occupied by or managed by Network Rail.

The duties and responsibilities contained in this standard relate to those premises, which are essential for the maintenance of the railway, for example, Maintenance Depots, and to other staffed/or un-staffed premises such Relay Rooms and Traction Supply Buildings including outside areas between the building and any boundary.

NOTE The document also relates to the infrastructure between such premises in so far as risk from fire could affect normal operations

Purpose

This standard sets the minimum standard required to meet the requirements of Fire Safety Policy NR/L1/FIR/100 within Maintenance.
